Skyler moves to New York City because her dad got transferred, leaving PJ broken-hearted. He follows her there so they can be together. Meanwhile, Teddy gets a tan. After she sprays on the bronzer, Charlie messes with the timer, and Teddy becomes orange.
Episode Summary[]
Amy tells Bob and Teddy that Gabe admitted to Jake that he likes a girl in his class named Heather, and she wants to help him, but Bob just comments that she should wear a bell. Teddy is looking at her old school photos, which never turned out well. In Kindergarten, her hair was crazy from a balloon rubbed on it, and her 3rd-grade picture was taken the day baby Gabe threw his sippy cup at her head. Amy suggests to Teddy that she should go shopping.
Skylar and P.J. are hanging out in the living room with Charlie, watching the Gurgles. Before she leaves, Skylar asks for a picture with P.J. He tries to get Charlie to take the picture, but then he decides to take it himself. Skylar says goodbye to P.J. and gives him a big hug. When he asks her what's up, she doesn't say why.
While at the mall, Teddy discovers her ex-boyfriend Spencer working at one of the stores as a model. He tells her he can hook her up with his boss for an interview.
P.J. comes home from school the next day and finds a note and boom box from Skylar, telling him that her dad got a new job in New York and she had to come with him. She wasn't able to say goodbye yesterday. P.J. is distraught about this. Not even Bob's assurance will help.
Amy tells Gabe she'd like to help him with Heather, but he asks her to stay out of this.
Teddy meets Spencer's boss for an interview. To work at the store, you don't need good grades or many hobbies. She has to hang around the store and treat it like she's having fun at the beach. Teddy gets hired, but she has to have a tan. When Teddy quietly points out she burns easily in the sun, Spencer suggests the spray-on type (which is what everyone uses).
Later that day, Gabe finds a note and boom box on the porch. They were from P.J., telling his family he's gone to live with Skylar in New York so he won't be separated from her. He thanks his parents for being great and tells them not to worry about him. Gabe then points out that Amy should have talked to P.J. about girls.
Bob goes to New York to bring P.J. home and finds out from Skylar (after an awkward conversation) that he is working to buy his own apartment and is working "under" Wall Street, playing his guitar for money and singing terrible songs.
Teddy, meanwhile, applies the spray on tan and sets a timer for an hour before she rinses. Unfortunately, Charlie gets a hold of the timer, and Teddy misses her one-hour mark, which is more orange than tan. Gabe points out that Charlie will laugh about this one day. Meanwhile, Amy has called on Heather to meet Gabe; however, when he asks to see Amy and tells her she told "Annoying" Heather, he likes her when he really likes "Hot" Heather. As it turns out, there are five girls in his class named Heather, all of whom have nicknames. Amy is shocked by this and wished she knew that.
Back in New York, Bob has found P.J. who has become aggressive from being in the city. He tells P.J. to come home, but he says no and tries to explain how much Skylar means to him, saying he doesn't want to lose her. Bob tries to talk to P.J. while taking pictures of bugs and rats; he eventually tells P.J. that if he does care about Skylar, he'll let her go; if they truly are meant to be together, then by faith, someday, they will be together again if not, then it was never meant to be at all.
Teddy goes back to the store all orange, and while Spencer and the boss are impressed, they are surprised by her orange skin. Unfortunately, things go really downhill as Teddy accidentally gets hit in the nose by a football and gets a bloody nose.
Amy manages to send annoying Heather on her way by telling her that "Hot" Jake likes her; both Amy and Gabe are relieved about this.
PJ and Skylar set each other free and say, "See you later." After hearing Bob call a man a jerk, they decide to leave. In the end, they return home. Bob shows Amy the pictures, but instead of buildings, it's just bugs and rats, which Amy hates. In the meantime, Teddy gets her pictures back, and they show her orange and a bandage on her nose. She says by next year, she'll probably be toothless and bald.
In the subway, neither PJ nor the mime are making any money, mainly because of Charlie, who is playing the saxophone.

- When Teddy gets a football thrown at her, it was meant to hit her nose, but you can definitely see that it hit the top of her head.
- Teddy says that she has school pictures coming up, but the next episode is Sun Show (a summer vacation), so school isn't in the summer.
- When Teddy shows Amy her 3rd grade school picture, Amy comments, “Baby Gabe. Such a little terror.” The statement is incorrect because, at the beginning of that year, Teddy would be about eight years old, and that means Gabe would be about five, not a baby.
- PJ had a job at Kwikki Chikki, so he could have gotten work at a restaurant.
